The International School of Basel Region is a non-profit, co-educational day school. Founded in 1979, the ISB offers a high quality, English language education that seeks to promote mutual respect, tolerance and understanding amongst children of all nationalities and cultures. The school typically has a population represented by 50% British and American, 10% Swiss and the balance comprised of students from 45 different nationalities.

The ISB is located at a new campus/building in Reinach, a suburb of Basel. The campus is easily accessible by auto, bike/walking trails and public transportation.

ISB is fully accredited by the European Council of International School (ECIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The school consists of a High School (Grades 11-12), Middle School (Grades 6-10) and Junior School (Pre K-Grades 5). The High School offers a comprehensive range of academic courses leading to the International Bacculareate (IB) Diploma and High School Diploma. The Middle School is based in the IB Middle Years Programme and the Junior School is based on the

IB Primary Years Programme. Admissions to the Middle and High Schools depends upon satisfactory records from the previous school, a recommendation from the previous Principal and a working knowledge of English. All teaching staff hold university degrees and/or certifications from their home country.

Every student from first grade upwards receive German tuition, the language of the region. French is introduced in the fifth grade. Students not fluent in English receive regular (ESL) - English as a Second Language - instruction. ISB supports an enhanced program for students who 'learn differently' through the Learning Support Programme.

Facilities at ISB include a well-stocked library with Internet access, well-equipped science laboratories, computer labs with over 400 new PCs as well as Macintosh computers, a large gymnasium with an 11-meter climbing wall, a 240-seat canteen/culinarium, and a 500 seat Aula.

The school has an active Parents Association (PA) and Student Council in the High School. The Extra-curricular Programme (ECP) at the school offers an after school care programme as well as wide range of after school and evening programmes for ISB students and parents.

Classes begin at 08:10 and ends at 15:30 for the Middle and High Schools. The Junior School starts at 08:20 and ends at 15:00. The school year runs from the end of August until the end of June.
